Day 116 - Condingup

Early surf at Wharton but very cold with the wind and clear, icy water. Only about 2 foot and not that great but what a spot. We went exploring for more waves a bit further east, drove down what we thought was a fairly short track which turned out to be a hardcore 4wd mission for more than an hour. Super fun drive but we weren't rewarded with waves, the point looked like it would be amazing when it's offshore (it's better in winter according to Steve). We tried to follow the beach along the coast to come back up a different track but went straight into soft sand within the first 50m. Almost bogged ourselves but managed to let the tyres down and get out ok. Would have been a very long (30-40km) walk back to town!

We dropped into the pub for a late lunch and to check out the Melbourne Cup Day festivities. Missed the race due to the time difference here but the pub was buzzing with the locals all dressed up (the ladies anyway) and lots of kids around. Cool vibe in this place, definitely one of the gems of the trip.
