Day 106 - Yallingup

Yet another early out the front at Yallingup but this time not that great. Offshore but a really strong wind and pretty inconsistent. I did see a pod of dolphins surfing a wave while I was standing on the reef which was pretty special. That was probably the highlight! The swell was meant to be increasing but no sign of it yet. At least we cracked 100 hours of surfing. Probably could have done that in just a few weeks if I'd stayed at home on the northern beaches but travelling to new waves is so much more special.

The 5 of us decided to check out one of the local limestone caves (there are heaps in this area). Just around the corner from Yallingup is Ngilgi cave, apparently one of the better ones. Pretty cool but not a patch on Jenolan caves! We picked up some barbeque supplies in town afterwards, loads of seafood and beer.

No sign of the big swell so our plan to surf a protected spot called Rocky Point wasn't going to work. We went south instead and ended up surfing Injidup for an hour or so. Wasn't the best, really inconsistent and a very tight take off spot with too many people in the water for the number of waves coming through. Nice wave if you had it to yourself though. Another pretty spot too with the obligatory whales frolicking out to sea.

Awesome cook up for dinner. Matt and Sarah's cabin looks out over the ocean so we sunk beers and watched the surf while shelling prawns and making the salads. Perfect weather and temperature for it too. We had a great time knocking back a few local reds and tucking in to all the food AND I got to watch Funniest Home Videos again!
