Day 023 - Agnes Water to Blackdown Tablelands NP

Day one of our mega road trip to Darwin (we fly out in exactly one week). Headed up the coast to Rockhampton for a bit of grocery shopping only to find that Coles isn't open on a Sunday! Had a bit of a look around anyway and then pointed Nessie west.
As soon as we got off the coast everything changed. Suddenly the Wicked camper vans full of backpackers were replaced with retired couples in 4wd's and huge trucks moving mining equipment!
Camped up for the night in Blackdown Tablelands National Park. Amazing drive across the plains once you turn off the highway and then a long, steep climb up to the very top of the plateau. Great to be back in the bush and one of the best campsites so far in terms of seclusion and feeling away from it all. Even my Optus mobile didn't have reception this time (Jack's Vodaphone had hardly worked since we left Sydney). Very cold at night but it's going to get a whole lot warmer soon!
