Day 029 - Towns River to Darwin

We caught some yabbies! Actually, not exactly yabbies but rather cherabin which are freshwater prawns but similar. Not quite enough for a full meal but enough to go with our noodles for lunch. Will definitely try to live off the land a bit more as we travel though the bush.
Did the last of the dirt today and finally back onto the tar which is quite weird. Even stranger is seeing tourists again in rented campervans, etc. For the last 2 weeks we've seen nothing but grey haired retired couples in 4wds! We wondered what kind of people we'd find in Mataranka Hot Springs. Would it be bikini-clad Swedish backpackers? Sadly, no. Rather than the Baywatch scenes we'd been imagining after 2 weeks in the bush it was actually more like a scene from Cocoon. Old people doing retirement-village doggy paddle everywhere. Sigh. Oh well, at least the water was nice and 2 hot springs in 2 days isn't a bad thing.
