Day 125 - Adelaide
Woke up in a bed! Apart from the crappy hostel bunk in Perth, this was my first real bed since Darwin. Such a pleasure. Not that I don't like camping but it does make you appreciate the simple things you take for granted in normal life.
The surf report looked good so Jack and I headed down towards Victor Harbor in the truck. It took rather longer than expected due to the Adelaide peak hour traffic but I strangely enjoyed sitting in the traffic, knowing that I don't have to do it every day. I really don't miss that in normal life!
We rocked up to the carpark at Waitpinga (known locally as Waits) to find multiple 2-3 foot peaks up and down the beach without too many people out. Score! We got straight out there and spent 3 hours getting loads of waves. So good to get a few decent ones after getting skunked all across the bottom of the country. Quite a pretty area too, Victor Harbor is in a stunning setting. Really should have taken a photo as we came over the hill!
Cruised back to Adelaide but couldn't go past McLaren Vale without stopping in for a tasting or two. We visited Hugh Hamilton (ok selection, a couple of decent ones, interesting verdelho) and Dowie Doole / Gemtree (they share a cellar door).
Surf: Waitpinga, SA, 2-3 foot, 3.0hr (117.5 total)
