Day 076 - Broome

Fairly unexciting day full of travel admin; haircut for me, internet, national parks office to get our WA pass, fish and tackle shop to get some heavy duty handlines for fishing off the jetty, a swim at the local pool. Didn't get to see all that much of Broome but got lots done.

The real highlight was the evening. Coral took me .22 pistol shooting at the local range which was awesome fun. I hadn't touched a handgun for years and it was great popping away at the targets with all the locals.

Thursday night is the big one in Broome, partly because of the wet t-shirt competition. I'd never seen one before so, for purely scientific reasons, dragged Jack along to check it out. It turned out to be quite a spectacle, seeing all the locals and backpackers mixing, not to mention the headlining event. I won't say much apart from that I hope those girls mothers (or fathers!) never see what they do up on the stage to win the $500 first prize. The best part was the grossly fat, middle-aged Aboriginal woman having a go. She came second but really should have won, not based on looks but rather how hilariously unattractive she was. We were screaming for her to win along with most of the crowd! Sorry, no photos...
