Day 072 - Manning Gorge to Silent Grove (Gibb River Road)

Another morning of chillaxing with our books then heading off as the heat of the day kicks in. So, the Gibb River Road is ok in parts but it really gives and takes, some bits are fine and others are horrendous. It's some journey though and cool that you need a decent 4wd to do it. The scenery changes quite a bit as you go along and it was great as the King Leopold Range came into view. We turned off and up the road to Silent Grove campsite, scoping potential yabbie creeks on the way.

Sorted ourselves out and kicked back (Jack with his final beer). We're getting to be a finely tuned machine, takes about 10 minutes from stopping the car to sitting down with a beer (or lemon cordial if you drank all your Emu Bitters). They actually had a phone box here (so old it was still branded Telecom) with satellite dish so I tried to call Mum and Dad but could only get through to Telstra numbers with reverse charges so called Aunt Dorothy for a catch up. Probably the most remote phone call I'm going to make this trip!
