Day 102 - Yallingup

Offshore this morning and no shortage of swell so got a 2 hour surf in at Yallingup first thing. It's great walking from your tent, across the road, out over the reef and hopping straight into the surf. The onshore came up mid morning (this WA wind is a nightmare) so we decided to do some surf spot sussing.

We took the 4wd track to a well known spot called The Three Bears. We'd thought serious 4wd-ing was over but the track was actually quite sketchy! It pulls in lots of swell here due to the southern exposure but means it goes onshore very easily. Can be a a classic wave (or actually series of waves) in the right conditions.

Decided to take the "other" 4wd track back which ended up being over an hour at 10-20 kph, picking our way over rocks and around trees. Great for wildflower viewing (it's the season at the moment) but we were over it after about 20 minutes. Towards the end of the track we came across some bush fire brigade guys doing a controlled burn and we had to drive through the smoke with our lights on for the last couple of kays!

Surf: Yallingup, WA, 4 foot, 2.0hr (93.5 total)
