Last day in Bali! Hit Airport Lefts super early hoping to catch some of the new swell but it hadn't arrived yet. Was 3 foot, inconsistent and crowded but some fun waves now and then. Surfed Kuta Beach at low tide in the arvo and actually got a few nice little ones but didn't shred them like the locals do, some of the kids here are amazing with an interesting, free flowing style (not as refined as the Noosa kids though.
Final Indo experience at the airport on the way out. Apart from the $18 departure tax (who does that apart from dodgy developing countries?) we were apparently 8kg overweight each and were going to be charged $20 a kilo if we didn't shed it. So ripped open my bags and slung books, wet towels, bits of coral, etc into the bin then stuffed about 5kg into my cabin baggage and made the girl happy. Pointless, I could weight 50kg more and not be charged extra for my fat but can't take a towel home.
Waved goodbye to Airport Lefts as we taxied out. Sad to be ending our Indo experience (and not surfing for the next few weeks) but looking forward to getting back to the truck and being in control of our destiny again!
