Early surf at Grupuk this morning with dozens of our best mates from Deutschland. Still sussing out the other surf options which are much bigger missions to get to (up to an hour's motorbike ride plus boats rather than the easy commute to Grupuk). Met our nextdoor neighbours at the hotel, a really cool Dutch couple with whom we ended up hanging out a bit.
In the afternoon we caught up with some guys from Cronulla that we'd met on the fast boat on the way over and they told us about their mission to Mawie, a heavier wave in the other direction from Kuta. They got a few decent waves but one of the guys, John (a Canadian), had come off his bike and had brutal cuts and scrapes all over his feet (meaning his surf trip was basically over). Something to ponder while tooling around on our bikes in thongs and no helmets!
