Last surf at Balian today. The new expected swell was bigger but still only 4-5 foot (not 6 to 8 foot like we thought it might be). Big enough to give my 6'6" it's virgin run though and got a few solid ones but it was quite fat after the inital drop. Was breaking quite a way out to sea like Longreef bommie but shifting around and overall a bit frustrating. Good duck diving practise when one landed on your head though!
Romy picked us up after breakfast and we headed back to Kuta the scenic way, via Gunung Batukau (2nd tallest mountain in Bali) and the Pura Luhur Batukau temple. Pretty interesting drive too including going past all sorts religous ceremonies (well, actually sitting in traffic caused by ceremonies) and driving through the amazing terraced rice fields (world heritage listed). Unfortunately I didn't get a really good photo of the rice fields but the area is well worth visiting.
